Semonkong and Maletsunyane Falls
One of the highest single-drop waterfalls in Africa, in the mountains of Lesotho.
Maletsunyane Falls drops nearly 200 metres in one go into a gorge outside Semonkong, a small mountain town where people still ride ponies wrapped in blankets. The road in climbs through passes and villages that feel a world away from South Africa, even though they're next door.
In 2016 we arrived cold, wet and shaking from the last pass. The falls were roaring. It was worth every shiver.
