The Seven Passes road
Forest, gravel and old bridges, the original road from George to Knysna.
The Seven Passes road was the main way from George to Knysna before the N2. It dips in and out of seven river valleys through the indigenous forest, over narrow bridges, on a mix of tar and gravel. On a quiet morning you won't see another car.
We rode it on the 2020 Seven Passes trip, wet, cold and grinning. Every valley is a little different and every one is too short.

- Stop at the Karatara and Barrington settlements for a breather.
- Combine it with Prince Alfred's Pass for a full day.
