- Fish River Canyon and the Orange River

The Orange River road between Rosh Pinah and Noordoewer. Still my favourite piece of riding anywhere.
- Destination Epupa Falls
Namibia · Fish River to Kunene · best May–Sep
A long way to go for a waterfall. Worth every corrugation.
- Wild Coast to Cape Town
Eastern Cape · Garden Route · Klein Karoo · best Mar–May
Goats, taxis and potholes in equal measure. It tried to take me out and I'd still go back.
- Montagu Pass, Seven Passes and Prince Alfred's
Garden Route · Outeniqua · best Oct–Apr
Seven passes in a day. Prince Alfred's is the one you'll talk about.
- Speedweek run to Hakskeenpan
Northern Cape · Kalahari · best May–Sep
A Prado, a KTM on the trailer and the Kalahari. The road to Speedweek is half the reason to go.
